Perry Cohen realized a lifelong dream of combining his love of the outdoors, his commitment to social justice, his own trans & queer identity, and his professional life when he founded The Venture Out Project, a non-profit organization that leads backpacking and ski trips for the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to leading trips, Venture Out facilitates workshops and trainings around gender diversity in the outdoors and beyond. As a gender educator, Perry works with colleges, camps, schools and other institutions to develop and deliver a comprehensive and progressive curriculum around gender diversity. Perry is a Wilderness First Responder, lifeguard, and is Avalanche LI Certified. He also holds an M.Ed in Leadership Development from Penn. Prior to founding Venture Out, Perry was a DI and DIII college soccer coach, teacher and leadership development executive. He has worked for many years as a coach, teacher, trainer and camp counselor with students ranging from age 3 to 75.
