Justin Forrest Parks is a passionate rock climber, outdoor enthusiast and community advocate born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. Justin’s mission is to promote, encourage and celebrate diversity in outdoors. Drawing from his background in film and photography, Justin is ecstatic about finding ways to create welcoming narratives that inspire people of color to venture into and engage with wild spaces. Justin has worked alongside the American Alpine Club, Chicago Mountaineering Club, Sierra Club, and Patagonia to help find ways to make adventure sports and outdoor communities more inclusive and welcoming to all. Justin is the co-founder of Sending in Color, a collective of Chicago climbers of color whose mission is to foster an inclusive climbing community within the windy city and the Midwest. Justin currently works for a non-profit called Chicago Cares and is regional athlete for Outdoor Research. You can usually find him exploring abandoned urban environments, climbing at Red River Gorge on his weekends, or training to become an IFMGA guide in the Cordillera Blanca.
