Nailah Blades Wylie started Color Outside as a safe place for women of color to come together and explore the outdoors. After experiencing a number of big life transitions and on the heels of a move from San Diego, CA to Salt Lake City, UT, Blades felt unmoored. Getting out in the wild and creating a community of women of color committed to embracing their power through outdoor adventure helped her to reconnect with her core self. Color Outside are women of color challenging ourselves to new adventures, all while changing the face of the outdoor industry. Together, through local meet-ups, in person retreats, and online communities, we push our bodies to new heights, reconnect with who we are at our core, and strengthen our ties as a community. We don't let anyone question our right to take up space.
